This program will provide in-depth instruction on classifying products for export controls under the ITAR and EAR. The workshop program will be led by practitioners with over sixty years of combined export classification experience … oh yeah, and one of whom was the key architect of the current ITAR/EAR Order of Review and that whole ECR process you may have heard about.
You will gain a detailed knowledge of how to approach jurisdiction and classification determination under both sets of regulations. The program will be geared primarily towards products and technology of high interest to the Valley export control community, such as semiconductor devices, information technology products, telecommunications and navigational items.
Participants are encouraged to submit classification-related questions in advance, so that the seminar leaders can try to address topics of key interest to the attendees.
Key topics will include:
- Navigating the Order of Review
- Applying the “Specially Designed” Definition
- Developing a Disciplined Approach to USML and CCL Category Review
- Documenting Classification Decisions
- Fashioning Effective Commodity Jurisdiction and Classification Requests
- Case Studies
