P.A.E.I. Present
Making Trade Compliance a Shared Responsibility
Wednesday, March 23, 2022
11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. PDT (2:00 to 3:00 p.m. EDT)
In a majority of companies, the onus of trade compliance falls upon a small team. Without support from other departments (such as Finance, Tax, Legal, Purchasing, Transportation, Human Resources, Quality, etc) this compliance effort is doomed to fail. On the other hand, companies that foster collaboration between different departments have much more effective trade compliance programs.
In this session, the speaker will:
- Identify which departments need to support the Trade compliance effort, and why?
- Describe the minimum support that such departments need to provide to the Trade Compliance team
- Discuss industry best practices on how other departments actively support to ensure a winning trade compliance program.
Speaker
Deep SenGupta, Founder and Chief Executive Officer, DSG Global LLC
Deep is the founder and chief executive officer of DSG Global LLC, an international trade compliance consulting firm (https://www.dsgglobal.com). Prior to founding DSG Global in 2014, Deep managed FedEx’s international trade consulting group. Prior to joining FedEx, Deep was with KPMG’s Asia Pacific Trade & Customs practice.
Deep learned the meaning of “globalization” early, since he spent his childhood in the United Kingdom, Canada, and India. Deep obtained his initial legal education in India (BA and LLB), arrived in the USA for his Masters in Law-Taxation (LL.M) from the University of Washington, and received executive education on International Trade from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.
Deep has been privileged to advise the US Government agencies (BIS, CBP & ITA) involved in imports as well as exports, as a subject matter expert. Recently, he was honored to receive the President’s “E” Award for Export Service (Nov 2021) from the US Secretary of Commerce, which is the highest recognition given for making a significant contribution to the expansion of U.S. exports.
When Deep is not wearing his “trade compliance” hat, he is a news buff, lives for travel, enjoys theatre, plays tennis every chance he gets, and longingly looks at his guitars that are gathering dust. Deep, his economist & university administrator wife, their 10-year old daughter, and 1-year-old labradoodle reside in San Francisco, California.
