PAEI invites you to join us in a webinar with Mario A. Torrico, Senior Associate at ArentFox Schiff LLP Attorneys. Mario focuses his practice on international trade, including trade remedy proceedings, forced labor supply chain audits and counseling, and customs matters. 

Mario will engage in a discussion about important issues surrounding import regulations and measures in the U.S. that domestic corporations and foreign suppliers are currently facing including:

Speaker: 

Mario A. Torrico, is a Senior Associate at ArentFox Schiff LLP. Mario represents both U.S. and foreign manufacturers in antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Commerce, and related litigation before the U.S. Court of International Trade and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In addition to AD/CVD counseling, Mario advises clients across various industries on cross-border compliance issues such as customs classifications and country of origin determinations as well as forced labor supply chain audits and investigations. Mario has extensive experience working with clients in the Americas, especially in Mexico, Asia, and Europe. 

Prior to entering the private sector, Mario served as an International Attorney-Advisor at the U.S. Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration (ITA). While there, Mario advised the ITA on the World Trade Organization’s different trade agreements (e.g., Technical Barriers to Trade, General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, and the Trade Facilitation Agreement) and was an active member of the U.S. Delegation to the WTO. Mario also advised senior policy officials on Section 232 and its related investigations. 

Mario has represented a diverse portfolio of clients facing international import issues including, but not limited to a Vietnamese pipe manufacturing company in a Department of Commerce AD/CVD circumvention inquiry; counseling a foreign tire producer and a U.S. purchaser of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) resin in AD/CVD sunset review proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission; advising a Mexican pipe company in multiple administrative review proceedings before the Department of Commerce; advising and obtaining Department of Commerce approval for reexport transactions of uranium material in connection with the Suspension Agreement on Uranium from the Russian Federation; and advising a major Belgian chemicals company on a CBP request for information involving products imported under the General System of Preferences program. 

Mario has also assisted U.S. importers with preparing for and responding to CBP Risk Analysis and Survey Assessment (“RASA”) forced labor questionnaires. 

Mario holds a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School. Mario is admitted to the Bar in the District of Columbia and to the U.S. Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit as well as the U.S. Court of International Trade. Mario is a native Spanish speaker.
